Inertial Flow
The future comes at us like a freight train
Pondering my mistakes and failures The parts of me I’ve grown to resent Stuck in the ruts of my memory’s dirt road Have I become terrified of the present? Fear flows in a dark moonlit river Floods surging at me from the future It used to be nothing more than a drip In my younger days harmonic with nature Terrors and phantasms raised up By the technomancers of these dark days We watching paralyzed as they move for the kill In idiotic torpor stupor malaise The way I outlast is to dive in Plunging myself in the horrible stream Let the raging waters wash over me To resurface again spotless and clean Breaking the chains of these cycles The lord of the bugs lost his grip My energy and life no more wasted As I try to navigate this old ship My love and my time are my treasure The world taxes me and takes its due The dead tooth finally extracted Pain and growth will see me through I think also of old friends sometimes And the ones whom I haven’t yet seen People enter and leave your life like that Carving paths and stories of being Wishing I’d been more present then I don’t know how many more times we’ll meet Every second of life an adventure And those seconds we will never repeat
